The ClinicalAthlete Weightlifting Coach Certification Seminar
The ClinicalAthlete Approach
The ClinicalAthlete Weightlifting Coach (CWC) certification is a direct extension of the core ClinicalAthlete mission: Bridging the gap between medical practice and athletic performance.
Upon successful completion, attendees will earn the designation of Certified ClinicalAthlete Weightlifting Coach (CCWC), which entails proficiency in understanding how to screen, improve movement through corrective strategies, and transition a client, athlete or themselves through the spectrum of weightlifting from regressions and laterlizations to performance in Olympic-style weightlifting.
When done correctly, the Snatch and Clean & Jerk are poetry in motion. Much has also been researched and written about their positive effects on strength, performance, and overall health and fitness. Even for the casual athlete, weightlifting, and its derivative lifts, have a place in the fitness programs of those willing to learn.
However, the Snatch and Clean & Jerk have unique mobility and movement demands that make them notoriously difficult to master. Too often, these pre-requisites are side-stepped in training for the sake of false progress and increased weight on the barbell. This can lead to setbacks and injury which stall progress in the weight room, and make the competition platform or playing field a distant memory.
This is where Quinn’s ground-breaking perspective comes in. The CWC Certification will teach you everything you wanted to know about movement, mobility, and corrective programming for the weightlifting movements. Over the course of two days, you will learn:
The unique mobility and stability demands of the Snatch, the Clean, and the Jerk: lift by lift, position by position, and body part by body part.
Specific topics, like ankle mobility, stretching and tightness, anterior pelvic tilt, and scapular mechanics, among many others.
Proper breathing mechanics and why they are important for establishing optimal posture and positions to master the Olympic lifts.
Screening and assessment protocol for each phase of the lifts and what these outcomes mean in the context of the movements themselves.
Corrective programming to conquer mobility and stability limitations and establish proficiency in the Olympic lifts.
Hands-on training to apply these techniques for yourself and coach them to your clients.
This certification is tailored to the clinician, coach, trainer or fitness enthusiast (hello, Crossfit!) who wants to learn how to build the right foundation to make Olympic weightlifting a mainstay in their own training or that of their clients.
